changing of seasons
a look into the art of Lowell Hayes and the passage of time
“It’s the time of year when the mornings are crisp like a cold plunge in the river
When leaves are still fighting their eventual fall
Some have already taken their leave until next spring to reemerge as a bud on the tip of an extending branch. Flowers are still here!
Golds, purples, bloom and make us all sneeze
What a wonderful time, to appreciate the change in all, to what we have celebrated all summer
What a wonderful changing of seasons”

Lowell Hayes knows exactly how to celebrate the changing of seasons in the High Country. As a resident in Valle Crucis since the 70’s, Hayes is deeply connected to his surroundings and environment. By using the materials provided by the forest where he lives, he creates textural and dimensional monolithic re-creations of local landscapes. His reflection of each season and their shoulders (the inbetween) can be seen clearly in his wood, leaf, and moss laden paintings.
